Photo shoot

I finally felt like going outside and taking pictures of the flowers, mainly roses, actually only roses. So here some of them are. I can say one thing for sure, it's really nice taking pictures of inanimate objects, you don't worry about them moving and you don't have to get every one of them to smile.

I know this isn't a rose, or even a flower, but I like it. It's one of my favorite sunset pictures. It makes me feel like standing up and singing a hearty rendition of "Circle of Life".

The Ring

Well, this past weekend I had a birthday. My parents gave me a card with a letter and this is what the letter said

Dear Kaylee
Awhile back we talked about what to get you for your birthday. We thought we would get you a "Lord of the Rings" type ring. Then we thought about how you like to relate parts of "The Lord of the Rings" story with applications to your life and especially your life with Jesus. So here is our attempt at doing that.
"The Ring" was a ring of power. You could use it for good or for evil, but somehow no matter how good the bearer of the ring was, over time that person started to become evil. The ring had great power for harm.
When we become Christians the bible tells us that the Holy Spirit comes to live inside us. "I will talk to the Father, and he'll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can't take him in because it doesn't have eyes to see him, doesn't know what to look for. But you know him already because he had been staying with you and will even be in you!" John 14: 16,17
The Holy Spirit is the opposite of The Ring. We are basically bad inside. When the Holy Spirit comes to live in us, over time He has a powerful influence. As we let him, He makes us good, He makes us righteous.
Our prayer is that your ring would be a reminder to you of the power you have within you, the power of the Holy Spirit. Instead of the power to make you invisible, it has the power to make Jesus visible through you to the world! Instead of having to not use it, and destroy it, your task is to use it and share it. You are not alone, but you have your brothers and sisters in Jesus, your own "Fellowship of the Ring".
—Mom & Dad

Now, when I first read that I was sad, sad that I didn't think of it first. I had always thought about the ring, and different takes on it, but this was a new one. It's amazing how we can see something everyday and then someone else puts a different perspective on it, and now we see everything totally different. Well, I should probably go and do the dishes, since my birthday's over I have to do chores again.

P.S. Strangely enough, I never got a car for my birthday, so if someone wants to still give me a car, you're more than welcome to (I got lots of cards though!).

The White Rider

Then suddenly upon a ridge appeared a rider, clad in white, shinning in the rising sun. Over the low hills the horns were sounding. Behind him, hastening down the long slopes, were a thousand men on foot; their swords were in their hands... The White Rider was upon them, and the terror of his coming filled the enemy with madness. The wild men fell on their faces before him. The Orcs reeled and screamed and cast aside both sword and spear. Like a black smoke driven by a mounting wind they fled. Wailing they passed under the waiting shadow of the trees; and from that shadow none ever came again.

Once again another great example of the literary magic of Tolkien. This is a almost perfect picture to what happens in Revelation 19:11-20, if you want to read it, and what will happen at the end of the world. When Jesus, the White Rider rides and defeats all his enemies.
I like how Tolkien describes the orcs' reaction, they were terrified, because they knew it was over. Just like how our enemy will react when God comes up and says, "Party's over! Your time is up, it's my turn now!" And they will all go into the shadow that awaits them, and never return. I can not wait to see it. It'll be AWESOME!!!

Camping

Well, I went on my first camping trip of the summer this weekend. One of my friends decided to go camping for her birthday (which was two months ago) so we went.
Some of you maybe have never gone camping, or at least not real camping. Real camping is when you are not staying in a cabin with running—hot—water, electricity, flushing toilets, oven, and carpet.
No, that's not camping, you're just cheating yourself when you do that. No, this was real camping meaning that there was no electricity, hot running water, sleeping on mattresses on the ground in a tent or trailer, cooking over the fire or with a gas stove, and the only toilet is a pit in the ground. Oh, and it rained a little, you cannot consider yourself a true camper unless you've camped in the rain.
With all these elements combined you've probably figured out that there was no showers. So yes, I did not wash my hair or self for two days. (sometimes it's been longer like four days) So when I got home what did I do? Take a shower.
It was the most wonderful shower ever!!! Twoish days of muck and grime cleaned off. It's worth not showering, just for that feeling.
It's kind of like us and God. We go camping and get dirty, mucky, and gross, like life. Then he takes us home and cleans us all up and we feel AWESOME!!! No spa or hot tube can compare. It doesn't matter how many times we get dirty, he always cleans us up.

Wut Ive lerned at Skool

Well, school ended today, when I arrived I celebrated by going on to youtube. This year at school I've learned quite a bit. So I've decided to share with you what I've learned at school, not necessarily that other half of my life.

  1. I've learned not to run backwards too fast otherwise you might fall over. And who knows, maybe someone else is running backwards as well, and maybe they don't exactly see you —they ARE running backwards— and they could fall over you and it might hurt. (hypothetical situation of course)

  2. No matter how weird you think someone is, you always have at least one similarity, somehow.

  3. Gravity can be expectationally strong some days and especially on some people.

  4. When running down the stairs ALWAYS hang on to the rail, you never know when you may need it.

  5. Einstein was right, human stupidity is infinite

  6. The more you try to look good, the worse you actually look.

  7. If you're smart enough, you can actually convince people you are, even if you're not.

  8. Use lots of big words and they'll think you're a genius, and you'll get a good grade.

  9. When taking a test and you don't understand, pretend you do, and you might get it right.

  10. Just because you take different classes, doesn't mean you can't use what you did in one class in another class.

  11. If you want to check someone's integrity, leave the classroom.

  12. You can't study while sleeping, unfortunately

  13. Read ALL directions before you do something, particularly if it's going to be graded.

  14. Before you blame someone else for your mistakes, check to make sure they're not yours, so you don't look like a fool.

  15. Sometimes the simplest of tasks are the hardest.

  16. If you can't do it right, don't until you can, you'll save a lot of work.

  17. Always have a eraser handy.

  18. Helping in the simplest way, can make the biggest change.

  19. The more you give, the more you'll get.

  20. No matter how old you get people can still be jerks and annoying, so you have to learn tolerance

......And Finally...................

School takes up a lot of paper. Lots of trees get cut down to make all this and you're helping to pay for it. Thanks!!!
